It can be amazing what you can find close by to photograph.

The afternoon that I shot these three images I had been inside the hotel in the "sitting room" checking email and uploading images. I had been staring at these leaves and the interesting shadows that they were making on each other, and how the sun shown through. Ron came in and checked his email, and then took a few shots of the leaves before heading out up the tower. It really hadn't occured to me to shoot the leaves, which I know find kind of funny since my Mom has a slightly similar image of a leaf in her office that I shot in high school. It was probably taken on one of the first five rolls of b/w film I ever shot.
Thanks Ron for reopening my eyes to the simple things around me.

Some of you have been asking when I was in Italy.

I went to Italy this last September 2006, and spent just
over two weeks in Florence, the Chianti region of Tuscany
and Venice.

So everyone keeps asking about Italy photos, so I figured I should just start posting them as I go through all 13+ gigs and 37 rolls of film.
So here you go. Enjoy, and keep checking back for new stuff. You can see other work at my website though nothing yet from Italy.

According to my camera this photo of the roof tops is the first image I shot once in Italy. It is from a small window in the tower of the Florence hotel that I stayed in "Torre Guelfa". It is the tallest privately owned tower in Florence, and provided me with wonderful view of the city below. A great place to have lunch and take a cat nap after a long morning of shooting.

The Duomo of Florence seen from the top of the tower, is the third largest cathedral in the world, and is in the center of the city. Rarely not under some sort of structural construction you can see the scaffolding on the right hand side of the dome.

Each morning we went out shortly before sunrise to capture the city before the rest of the city awoke. Thanks to Ron this little street, hidden and out of sight to most, provided a great place to see the Duomo from an angle seen by few travelers.
